Have you considered Bay to Breakers? It is less than a half marathon, but it seems a lot more fun! Probably easier on the ankles.

@diadematus I ran like 2.5km 2 weeks ago, and run a km some mornings (Fx twice so far this week). Been a long time since I ran >5km.
